Field Technician II

Responsibilities

• Maintain high quality standards across assigned data center locations and remote Points of Presence (POP).
• Perform physical installation, repair, maintenance, and testing of network equipment.
• Execute rack and stack configurations, card replacements, and software upgrades.
• Provide site survey support for OSP and ISP projects, including space, power, and equipment deployments.
• Conduct site audits and reconcile data discrepancies in coordination with Network Surveillance.
• Manage local construction vendors to ensure compliance with installation standards and MOPs.
• Coordinate with Local Exchange Carriers (LEC) and other technicians to facilitate timely maintenance activities.

Requirements

• Associate's degree (A.A) or equivalent and 2 to 5 years of related experience or training.
• Deep understanding of OSP, ISP, interfacility cabling, fiber/copper distribution, and AC/DC power systems.
• Experience with rack and stack configurations and installing telecom/network equipment (DWDMs, routers, IP switches).
• Proficiency with testing equipment including OTDRs, microscopes, and source/power meters.
• Knowledge of telecommunications testing standards such as wire-mapping, bit error rate, and reflectance.
• Ability to work independently, diagnose problems, and travel as required.
• Proficiency with spreadsheets, project management applications, and Tier-1 ITSM platforms.
