Field Technician

Responsibilities

• Oversee and lead installations and repairs on Wireless or Fibre networks for homes and small businesses
• Perform fibre troubleshooting including splicing, testing, and dome management
• Conduct wireless troubleshooting including signal testing on CPEs and access points
• Execute basic network troubleshooting for IP conflicts, firewalls, and routing issues
• Install VoIP systems and manage internal/external cable runs
• Perform callout repairs and identify optimal solutions for connectivity issues
• Maintain accurate project documentation, safety records, and stock levels
• Work at heights on roofs, poles, or large buildings and in confined spaces

Requirements

• 1 year of Fibre Optic splicing experience
• 1 year of RF/Wireless experience
• Knowledge of network structures and crimping
• Proficiency in fibre cable termination and fusion splicing techniques
• Experience with FO troubleshooting tools such as OTDR and Mass Fusion Splicing
• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
• Grade 12 certificate
• Ability to work in a physically demanding environment and at heights
• Basic computer skills and customer service experience

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience in the IT industry
• Technical training in Electronics, IT, Networking, VoIP, or IP cameras
• Specialized technical certifications
