Field Structured Cabling Senior Technician

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and control structured cabling activities from early project stages through deployment completion
• Supervise and direct external contractors and cable pull schedules
• Ensure installations follow approved DWG drawings, specifications, and cable routes
• Track cable pulls, routes, and completion status while documenting progress
• Apply minor layout updates in DWG files and escalate major design changes
• Oversee installation of cable tray and containment systems
• Maintain accurate field documentation and update tracking systems
• Support as-built documentation by capturing all field changes
• Coordinate with logistics and vendors for timely delivery and staging of materials
• Act as the on-site point of contact for cabling coordination and issue resolution

Requirements

• 2–3+ years of field experience in structured cabling or telecommunications
• Hands-on experience with fiber and copper deployment
• Strong knowledge of fiber-optic infrastructure (patch panels, enclosures, cassettes)
• Ability to read and interpret AutoCAD / DWG drawings
• Experience supervising or coordinating contractors and field teams
• Understanding of cable pathways, tray systems, and routing best practices
• Experience with field documentation and change control
• Strong communication and coordination skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in large-scale data center environments
• Knowledge of network topologies and IT infrastructure support
• Experience with high-density fiber environments and large cable volumes
• Familiarity with structured cabling standards (TIA, ISO, BICSI)
• Knowledge of fiber fusion splicing
