Field Software Engineer II

Responsibilities

• Support SW Design Engineers in the development, testing, deployment, and maintenance of software for semiconductor manufacturing equipment
• Triage mechanical, electrical, and software bugs
• Manage escalation calls with field support engineers and customers at a local level
• Work with QA and Support teams to add replicated bugs to regression testing
• Collaborate with customers to write specifications for features and assist with bug fixes or small feature developments
• Author, revise, and review system specifications, software designs, test plans, and other technical documentation
• Investigate and troubleshoot internal and external inquiries, providing problem analysis and solutions
• Participate in system design teams and act as a liaison for customer priorities
• Assist customers with upgrading tools to the latest software versions and help with qualification processes

Requirements

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Proficiency in software development using C++ or C#
• Ability to read code and step through a debugger/IDE
• Business level fluency in both English and Japanese

Preferred Qualifications

• Educational background in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or an equivalent field
• 10+ years of experience in software problem solving
• Experience with software for machine control or semiconductor equipment
• Experience developing for Windows and Real-time Operating Systems (RTOS)
• Knowledge of multi-threaded applications, real-time software, and Graphical User Interfaces (GUI)
• Experience with device drivers, interrupt-driven software, or data communications (EtherCAT, Networking)
• Familiarity with complex dynamic scheduling algorithms and deadlock avoidance
• Proficiency with programming tools including text editors, application builders, and configuration management tools
