About the role
Responsibilities
- Test, maintain, and collect data on low, medium, and high voltage systems (480V–600kV) including breakers, relays, switchgear, cables, and transformers
- Run standard field tests such as TTR, insulation resistance, Power Factor, Tan Delta, VLF, and DC Hi-Pot
- Troubleshoot control circuits, relay logic, protection schemes, and SCADA signal integrity
- Read and interpret schematics, drawings, manuals, and one-line diagrams
- Maintain accurate reports, logs, and equipment calibration records
- Follow all site safety procedures including Lockout/Tagout, PPE, and JHA
- Mentor Tech I team members on procedures and safe practices
Requirements
- 1–3 years of experience in power systems testing, troubleshooting, or commissioning (480V–500kV)
- Proficiency with megohmmeters, TTRs, contact resistance testers, and insulation testers
- Strong understanding of NFPA 70E and OSHA 1910.269 standards
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and one-line diagrams
- Willingness to travel up to 75% across the continental U.S.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to pass background and drug screenings
- Physical capability to lift 50+ lbs and work in outdoor, high-altitude, or confined space environments
Preferred Qualifications
- NETA Level II certification or active pursuit of certification
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Technology, Power Systems, or Mechanical Engineering
- Experience with PowerDB or similar test documentation software
- Possession of a TWIC card
