Field Service Technician

Responsibilities

• Perform installation, commissioning, and initial start-ups of high voltage circuit breakers, disconnect switches, and capacitor banks
• Conduct electromechanical troubleshooting, repairs, adjustments, and modifications in electrical substations
• Inspect equipment, structures, and materials to identify causes of errors, defects, or technical problems
• Analyze information and evaluate results to select the best solutions for customer issues
• Supervise and provide direction to contractors, customer personnel, and junior field technicians
• Operate heavy equipment including man lifts and reach fork trucks
• Complete all required documentation including field service reports, timecards, and expense reports in a timely manner
• Act as a primary interface between GE and the customer

Requirements

• Associate's degree in Electrical or Mechanical Technology (or a highly related field)
• Minimum of 2 years of manufacturing experience (field experience preferred)
• Ability to read and understand complex electrical and mechanical drawings
• Willingness and ability to travel up to 80% of the time within the US and abroad via air travel and car rental
• Ability to perform physical activities requiring considerable dexterity and agility

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in troubleshooting and repair of electrical control circuits
• Experience in the mechanical assembly of circuit breakers
