Field Service IT Engineer

Responsibilities

• Travel to government customer sites to install, configure, test, and troubleshoot networking and communications equipment
• Install and terminate Ethernet and fiber optic cabling, including patch panels, switches, routers, and media converters
• Perform physical installation tasks including equipment mounting, rack setup, cable routing, and grounding
• Conduct light general contracting work such as basic electrical work, drywall modification, and conduit placement
• Build and modify protective enclosures, cabinets, and racks for network equipment
• Verify connectivity and performance of communication links using test equipment
• Support network equipment configuration including IP addressing, VLANs, and routing basics
• Read and interpret site drawings, network diagrams, and technical documentation

Requirements

• US Citizen with TS SCI eligibility and ability to pass CI polygraph
• Experience in Field Service Engineering, Network Technician, or IT Infrastructure roles
• Strong knowledge of Ethernet networking, copper cabling, and IP addressing
• Working knowledge of fiber optic communications (single-mode/multi-mode, LC/SC connectors)
• Experience configuring switches, routers, firewalls, and wireless access points
• General contracting experience including basic electrical and drywall work
• Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and cable/fiber testers
• Educational and experience combinations: GED + 10 years, Associate's + 7 years, Bachelor's + 4 years, or Master's + 2 years in relevant technical fields

• Network design expertise
• General tradesman skills (drywall, electrical, HVAC, plumbing)
• Understanding of construction sites and projects
