Field Service Engineer

Responsibilities

• Take full ownership of customer issues related to communications, monitoring, and control for inverters and battery storage systems.
• Analyze and discriminate faults across plants to determine if issues originate in Sungrow equipment or third-party systems (PPC, EMS, SCADA).
• Work hands-on with industrial communication networks, interpreting registers, logs, and data flows using Modbus TCP/RTU and related protocols.
• Support commissioning activities by verifying correct communication between inverters/BESS and customer systems.
• Use data analysis to identify communication faults, performance deviations, and control issues.
• Perform on-site installation, commissioning, repair, maintenance, and testing while adhering to Health & Safety regulations.

Requirements

• Degree in Electrical, Electronics, Telecommunications, Automation Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
• Strong knowledge of industrial communication protocols, specifically Modbus (TCP/RTU), and familiarity with IEC 61850, DNP3, or OPC-UA.
• Hands-on experience with SCADA systems, remote monitoring platforms, and VPN/remote connections.
• Understanding of PPC and EMS platforms and how inverters and BESS integrate within them.
• Practical troubleshooting capabilities for AC/DC and Low/Medium Voltage systems.
• Proficiency in both Italian and English (C1 level or above).
• Valid driving licence.
• Willingness to travel approximately 60% and perform on-call duties, including occasional evenings and weekends.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Battery Storage (BESS) solutions.
• Experience in customer-facing roles within critical or high-pressure environments.
• Based in or around Milan.
