Field Service Engineer

Responsibilities

• Manage the installation, commissioning, and handover of Cognex designed systems to system integrators or direct end-user customers.
• Perform on-site engineering assignments including startup, testing, and fault-finding diagnoses of complex components.
• Develop on-site modifications to electrical, optical, or mechanical systems to ensure performance meets design specifications.
• Serve as the primary technical and administrative point of contact for customers during assigned projects.
• Provide customer training and mentorship regarding the operation and maintenance of installed systems.
• Deliver timely and accurate reports on service work performed and product performance.
• Ensure safety consciousness during equipment handling and electrical/electronic procedures at diverse work sites.

Requirements

• 2-4 years of technical experience in Industrial, Manufacturing, or Field Service environments.
• Proficiency in both English and Spanish (written and spoken).
• Ability to travel 70-90% of the time, including frequent overnight stays.
• Valid Driver's License without restriction.
• Ability to interpret mechanical and electrical drawings and panel designs.
• Knowledge of Java scripting for data formatting and serial communications (ASCII).
• Ability to work evening and weekend hours and respond to customer emergencies on-call.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working in integrator or machine builder environments.
• Working knowledge of logistics products, industrial controls, networking, and communications protocols.
• Solid CAD capability.
