About the role
Responsibilities
- Monitor and enforce compliance with safety policies, procedures, and legislation including OH&S, WorkSafe, and COR
- Conduct on-site safety inspections, hazard assessments, and audits of crews in remote locations
- Identify and correct unsafe behaviors or conditions immediately and document all findings
- Support the safety manager in investigating near misses, incidents, and injuries through detailed reporting
- Ensure proper use of PPE, tools, and equipment according to company and manufacturer guidelines
- Provide field coaching and mentoring to promote a strong safety culture and employee accountability
- Communicate regularly with management regarding safety performance, risk trends, and training needs
Requirements
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel extensively to remote work sites
- Strong knowledge of safety standards, risk management, and provincial OH&S regulations
- Ability to commit to the full seasonal period from mid-April through mid-August
- Physical resilience and the ability to work in challenging, remote terrain
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision in isolated environments
- Proven ability to make difficult decisions independently and enforce policies firmly
- Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug test
