Field Mechanical Engineer - Assembly

Responsibilities

• Co-own the SPARC assembly process, specifically focusing on the assembly sequence of workstation sub-assemblies.
• Guide technicians through assembly issues and determine acceptable solutions to maintain project momentum.
• Design, build, or procure tools, fixtures, and manipulation equipment required for upcoming assembly stages.
• Provide design feedback to sub-system teams to ensure components are optimized for manufacturing and assembly.
• Resolve non-conformance issues on parts or processes and incorporate red-line changes into updated assembly sequences.
• Collaborate with Metrology and Assembly Process teams to ensure precision alignment and process integration.

Requirements

• B.S. in Civil, Mechanical, or Aerospace Engineering.
• 5 years of engineering experience.
• 3+ years of experience demonstrating project ownership.
• 2+ years of experience overseeing construction, manufacturing, or assembly/integration processes.
• 2+ years of experience using CAD software.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical activities such as standing, climbing, or stooping for extended periods.
• Ability to work onsite 5 days a week in an industrial facility environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• 6+ years of Mechanical Engineering experience with project ownership.
• Proficiency with Siemens NX.
• Experience with lifting operations, welding, or piping and tubing construction.
• Experience with highly complex, delicate, or tightly packaged assemblies.
• Experience with composite preparation, layup, and curing.
• Experience with heavy component manipulation of large structures.
