Field Epidemiologist

Created by Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) in 1986, Epicentre carries out field epidemiology, training and medical research in support of MSF's humanitarian objectives. Our areas of expertise cover infectious diseases, neglected diseases, and chronic diseases in African countries.

Responsibilities

• Conduct rapid health assessments in emergency situations
• Perform epidemic outbreak investigations
• Monitor and evaluate health programs and health needs
• Implement and evaluate epidemiological surveillance programs
• Lead operational studies using qualitative, quantitative, and mixed methods
• Provide training activities in public health and epidemiology
• Conduct clinical studies

Requirements

• Master’s degree in epidemiology or public health
• Experience in outbreak investigation, M&E, surveillance, or clinical trials
• Proficiency in statistical software (STATA, SPSS, R) or qualitative software (Nvivo, MAXQDA)
• Experience with survey data management (RedCap, Kobo) or DHIS2, epiinfo, ArcGIS
• Proficiency in English or French

Preferred Qualifications

• 3+ years of related work experience in humanitarian contexts
• Experience working with MSF, NGOs, WHO, or United Nations
• Regional experience in Sub-Saharan Africa, Middle East, Asia, or Latin America
• Proficiency in Arabic
• Ability to work autonomously in difficult field conditions
