About the role
Responsibilities
- Perform on-site fault triage and resolution for vehicle software and hardware issues
- Follow structured diagnosis and repair protocols to maintain fleet uptime
- Collaborate with global engineering teams to troubleshoot technical issues
- Respond rapidly to issues within a 5-minute SLA
- Maintain clear communication with the Field Engineering Lead regarding repairs and handovers
- Participate in 24/7 on-call rotations and weekend shifts
- Adhere to strict safety and compliance protocols during all repairs
- Identify operational challenges to optimize field engineering efficiency
Requirements
- Strong understanding of vehicle diagnostics and hardware/software fault triage
- Ability to troubleshoot technical issues quickly under strict SLAs
- Experience with diagnostic tools and software monitoring platforms (e.g., Datadog, Mender)
- Proficiency with ticketing systems like JIRA
- Ability to work a shift pattern including weekends (06:00-15:00 or 13:00-22:00)
- Willingness to work on-site in Tokyo and Yokohama
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of ADAS technology and on-road testing
- L2 Automobile Mechanic certification
- Japanese language ability (JLPT N2 or above)
