Field Electrical Inspector

Responsibilities

• Perform site inspections of electrical construction activities and verify installations
• Enforce safe work practices and compliance with EUSR, OHSA, and MTO standards
• Review IFC drawings, specifications, and project documentation
• Conduct field risk assessments, hazard evaluations, and contractor orientations
• Maintain detailed daily inspection logs, photographs, and project records
• Identify and document Safety and Quality NCRs and track corrective actions
• Monitor construction progress and document deviations from design or scope changes
• Verify installation quality and material compliance with approved BOMs
• Perform final inspections, prepare deficiency lists, and support project close-out

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, Red Seal Journeyman Electrician, or Certified Engineering Technologist in Electrical Engineering
• Over 3 years of relevant experience in hydro network construction sites
• Experience in overhead and underground electrical distribution construction
• Knowledge of Electrical Utility Safety Rules (EUSR) and OHSA
• Valid Ontario G-Class Driver's Licence with ability to travel to multiple sites daily
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
• Ability to work outdoors in extreme weather and flexible hours

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge of Toronto Hydro Rule Book and THESL Distribution Standards
• Experience with switchgear, transformers, and protection and control systems
• Experience with underground utility projects, excavation, and shoring
