Field Applications Engineer - Microprocessors

Responsibilities

• Deliver premium technical support to assigned customers to drive design-in activity and design wins
• Lead proof of concept, solution design, and demonstrations to secure NXP solution adoption
• Synthesize customer and competitive insights to improve product definitions and future roadmaps
• Act as a system software architect to ensure technical teams understand the software value proposition
• Qualify sales opportunities by evaluating customer technical requirements against NXP's value proposition
• Build strong relationships with sales teams, business lines, partners, and customers
• Educate Field Sales Engineers on new technologies, product features, and business value
• Develop deep system-level knowledge within the Automotive and Industrial vertical markets

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or an equivalent field
• Minimum 5 years of experience in development engineering or applications support for microprocessor-based embedded systems
• Proven Field Application Engineering (FAE) experience within the semiconductor industry
• Proficiency in C and C++ with a track record of developing embedded firmware
• Strong knowledge of SoC hardware interfaces (e.g., Ethernet, MIPI, SDIO, USB, UART, SPI, I2C)
• Deep understanding of ARM Cortex A, M, and R architectures and register programming models
• Experience with Real-Time Operating Systems such as QNX, FreeRTOS, or Zephyr
• Willingness to travel up to 30% within the continental US

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge of embedded Linux (kernel, user-space, and uboot environments)
• Hands-on experience with graphics and video subsystems and related software drivers
• Familiarity with Edge AI applications, including CNNs, LLMs, VLMs, or Agentic AI
• Ability to read and review schematics to provide technical design recommendations
