Fiber Optic Field Support Specialist

Responsibilities

• Provide after-the-sale training and field support for fiber optic cable and hardware installations (Inside Plant and Outside Plant)
• Perform troubleshooting and technical support for single and ribbon fiber splicing
• Teach Tier 1 (light source and power meter) and Tier 2 (OTDR) fiber optic cable field testing applications
• Instruct fiber optic installation classes for up to 25 students as a qualified instructor or technical assistant
• Support field trials, product evaluations, Data Center, and fiber to the home (FTTH) installations
• Support Sales demonstrations, presentations, and trade shows
• Actively pursue and report competitive information back to the Sales team

Requirements

• Technical degree or equivalent work experience
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in Fiber Optics
• Valid driver’s license and ability to be insurable
• Willingness to travel 50% of the time
• Ability to work independently with little or no supervision
• Strong communication skills to interface effectively with internal and external personnel

Preferred Qualifications

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Word and Excel
• Knowledge of Corning Optical Communications products
• Spanish language skills
