Fiber Optic Coil Tester

Responsibilities

• Perform rigorous baseline and environmental testing on wound fiber optic coils using specialized instrumentation
• Subject optical coils to thermal cycling and vibration testing chambers
• Log high-frequency telemetry, insertion loss data, and polarization characteristics
• Conduct visual inspections under magnification to identify macro-bends, alignment variances, or adhesive flaws
• Maintain, calibrate, and troubleshoot high-precision photonics testing rigs and test fixtures
• Partner with Coil Winding Technicians and Opto-Mechanical Engineers to improve yield
• Ensure testing procedures align with ISO9001 and AS9100 quality control frameworks

Requirements

• 2+ years of experience in a high-precision testing environment (photonics, fiber optics, or complex electronics)
• Practical familiarity with optical lab diagnostic equipment (OTDRs, power meters, analyzers)
• Exceptional attention to detail and fine motor skills
• Competency in using spreadsheets for data logging and performance metrics
• Experience working within ESD-controlled or cleanroom environments is highly regarded
