Fiber Construction and Splicing Manager

Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise crews in the installation, maintenance, repair, and splicing of aerial and underground fiber optic networks.
• Manage internal construction and splicing teams across the Indiana region to ensure quality and safety standards.
• Review blueprints, engineering plans, and project specifications to coordinate work with project managers.
• Assemble, mentor, and assign tasks to technicians, laborers, and splicing personnel.
• Oversee the use of heavy equipment including directional drills, excavation machinery, and aerial lifts.
• Enforce OSHA and company safety protocols, including conducting daily safety briefings and site inspections.
• Serve as the primary technical contact for construction and splicing issues, interfacing with customers and inspectors.
• Provide daily production reports and track crew time, equipment usage, and material inventory.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 5+ years of experience in fiber optic or utility construction and splicing.
• Proven experience with backbone or carrier-class fiber splicing.
• Prior supervisory or management experience.
• Valid state driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record.
• Ability to read and interpret construction plans, prints, and vendor specifications.
• Physical ability to lift up to 100 lbs, work aloft, and enter confined spaces.
• Willingness to travel and work in various weather conditions.

Preferred Qualifications

• CDL license.
• Experience with directional drilling and excavation/earthmoving.
• Familiarity with ADSS cable installation and energized space work.
• Proficiency in construction management software (e.g., Sitetracker, Vetro, ArcGIS).
• Experience with inside cable installation and telecommunication system maintenance.
