Female Corrections Deputy

Responsibilities

• Perform receipt, booking, custody, transport, and care of offenders in accordance with established policies.
• Conduct searches (frisk, pat down, area, and cell) to prevent the movement of contraband.
• Maintain facility security by operating electronic equipment, including security cameras and control room systems.
• Coordinate offender court appearances and assist with updating the Jail Management System.
• Facilitate basic offender needs, including meal service, medication pass, and basic first aid.
• Conduct formal counts to ensure proper accountability of all offenders housed in the facility.
• Draft and submit detailed written reports concerning incidents and daily activities.
• Enforce facility rules and respond to emergent incidents using the Emergency Response Plan.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• One year of experience in law enforcement, emergency services, or a comparable position dealing with the public.
• Valid Washington State driver's license with no restrictions.
• Ability to lift 50 lbs from floor to counter.
• Ability to physically handle and control offenders who are resisting directives.
• Ability to maintain composure and self-control under adverse or emergent conditions.
• Eligibility for coverage under the County’s insurance carrier following a criminal history background check.

Preferred Qualifications

• Specialized training in corrections, security, police, military, or criminal law.
• Certification (or eligibility for certification) as a Corrections Officer by the Washington State Training Commission.
