About the role

Responsibilities

  • Manage the care and feeding of livestock at Knott Dairy
  • Maintain and upkeep animal housing facilities, pastures, and fencing
  • Safely operate and maintain farm equipment including tractors, trucks, skid steers, loaders, and forage choppers
  • Ensure grounds and facilities are kept clean and functional
  • Assist in the maintenance of feeding and hauling devices
  • Lead or supervise lower-level staff as required
  • Report to work during inclement weather or suspended operations as an essential employee

Requirements

  • Two years of experience in farm work or maintaining livestock (or equivalent education/experience)
  • Proven livestock husbandry experience and experience working with animals
  • Experience safely operating and maintaining farm equipment and implements
  • Valid driver's license (or ability to obtain one by time of hire)
  • Ability to work a rotating schedule, including weekends, holidays, and after-hours
  • Ability to work in various weather conditions

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with livestock breeding, including heat detection, artificial insemination, and calving
  • Experience with milking, vaccinations, foot trimming, dehorning, ear tagging, tattooing, or freeze branding
  • Ability to drive a manual transmission
