Farm Animal Caretaker

Responsibilities

• Provide daily care for livestock, including feeding, monitoring health, and maintaining animal census and records
• Maintain farm facilities, including cleaning barns, stalls, and paddocks, and ensuring fences and gates are in good repair
• Manage inventory for feed, bedding, and farm supplies, and assist with the delivery and storage of materials
• Support the College of Veterinary Medicine by preparing for student laboratories, courses, and teaching activities
• Assist the Farm Veterinarian with medical care tasks, breeding, and animal handling
• Operate and maintain farm vehicles, implements, and equipment
• Perform outdoor maintenance tasks such as weed and brush control

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• At least 1 year of experience working with cattle or small ruminants
• Valid driver’s license
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office
• Physical endurance for outdoor work in various weather conditions and the ability to lift 50 lbs

Preferred Qualifications

• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Animal Science, Veterinary Technology, or Agricultural Technology
• 3 years of verifiable equivalent work experience
• Commercial Driver’s License (CDL)
