Family Engagement Coordinator

About the Company

Alma del Mar is a K-8 charter school whose mission is to put every one of our scholars on the path to college and to challenge them to be service-minded leaders. We provide a highly demanding, highly supportive environment through an Expeditionary Learning model.

Responsibilities

• Represent family interests to school and network leadership
• Coordinate network-wide family communication and create accessible materials
• Inform leaders about community issues like immigration, homelessness, and food insecurity
• Recruit and organize parent volunteers and facilitate PTO meetings and workshops
• Manage a caseload of families in need, providing individualized support and interventions
• Refer families to local community resources and organizations
• Provide translation services for IEP, 504, and discipline meetings
• Act as McKinney-Vento Liaison to support families experiencing homelessness
• Support campus leaders in reducing chronic absenteeism
• Operate the Alma del Mar Family Center

Requirements

• Experience working or volunteering in a school setting
• Bilingual in English and Spanish (required)
• Proven ability to build relationships with diverse families and community partners
• Strong organization and follow-through skills
• Authorization to work in the United States
• English proficiency

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with case management or social work
• Experience with McKinney-Vento regulations
• Ability to lead volunteer teams
