About the role

Responsibilities

  • Support internal and external requests to troubleshoot AMD GPU product failures, focusing on PCB triage, power delivery debug, and board-level failure isolation.
  • Develop and execute diagnostics and functional test DOE’s to reproduce, characterize, and isolate difficult board- and power-related failures.
  • Perform structured PCB triage to narrow failures to the board, component, power rail, layout interaction, or system integration level.
  • Use board schematics, layout data, and power delivery design knowledge to form debug hypotheses and build targeted validation plans.
  • Develop automation and tools to run tests and analyze results and logs.
  • Document all findings in the FA database and create complete failure analysis reports for customer consumption.
  • Present findings to key stakeholders, including senior management.
  • Oversee the set-up of new products and test stations for Failure Analysis operations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
  • Expertise in PCBA design and power delivery architecture.
  • Proficiency in Python and shell scripting.
  • Experience with lab equipment including oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and power analyzers.
  • Strong background in PCB triage, board-level failure analysis, and hardware debug.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of high-speed digital design, power delivery networks, and voltage regulator behavior.
  • Experience with memory interfaces (HBM, GDDR), PCIe, and display outputs (DP, HDMI).
  • Understanding of firmware, drivers, and hardware interactions.
  • Experience with GPU data center infrastructure and AI/ML technologies.
  • Ability to perform soldering and rework to support hardware debug.
