Faculty-Licensed Vocational Nursing

Responsibilities

• Provide instruction in vocational nursing theory and clinical skills across classroom, lab, and clinical settings
• Develop and administer assessments to measure student learning outcomes
• Oversee student orientation, clinical assignments, and learning opportunities
• Supervise students in clinical settings and provide academic advising
• Develop, implement, and evaluate nursing curriculum in alignment with program standards
• Maintain familiarity with Texas Board of Nursing requirements and safety standards
• Participate in departmental committees, student recruitment, and official college events

Requirements

• Current, or eligible for, an unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Texas
• Associate degree in nursing or a diploma from an accredited hospital-based nursing program
• Minimum of three years of recent nursing experience or advanced preparation in nursing practice
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and general computer applications
• Valid Texas driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in nursing
• Experience teaching nursing courses at the community college or university level
• Experience working with or precepting nursing students in clinical settings
• Familiarity with learning management systems (LMS), such as Canvas
