Faculty in Opera Theater

Responsibilities

• Direct mainstage operas
• Teach opera workshop classes in collaboration with the music director/pianist
• Teach seminars in opera directing and/or other opera courses based on expertise
• Oversee the opera budget in collaboration with the conservatory finance manager
• Coordinate the design process and all production personnel for mainstage operas
• Coordinate the mainstage repertoire selection process with voice faculty, opera staff, and theater personnel

Requirements

• Outstanding professional experience as an opera director
• Advanced degree in opera theater, theater, or equivalent experience
• Experience as a lyric theater director or equivalent performance experience
• Musical and linguistic expertise
• Practical knowledge of theater technology
• Experience teaching acting or movement to singers
• Demonstrated success working effectively and collaboratively with faculty, staff, and students
