About the role
Responsibilities
- Conduct hazard evaluation studies and accident analyses
- Identify safety controls to protect workers and the public
- Perform Unreviewed Safety Question Determinations for operating procedures and equipment changes
- Evaluate operational events and technical information for nuclear safety issues
- Maintain safety basis documentation via document change notices and annual updates
- Support design, installation, and start-up of new capabilities and technologies
- Develop major modification determinations for substantial changes to nuclear operations
- Brief federal counterparts on nuclear safety posture and hazard scope
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in engineering, mathematics, chemistry, or physics
- 5+ years of relevant experience
- U.S. citizenship required
- Ability to obtain and maintain a government issued clearance
- Experience developing and maintaining safety basis documentation per 10 CFR 830 and DOE directives
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Active DOE "Q" clearance
