Facility Safety Engineer (Nuclear)

Responsibilities

• Conduct hazard evaluation studies and accident analyses
• Identify safety controls to protect workers and the public
• Perform Unreviewed Safety Question Determinations for operating procedures and equipment changes
• Evaluate operational events and technical information for nuclear safety issues
• Maintain safety basis documentation via document change notices and annual updates
• Support design, installation, and start-up of new capabilities and technologies
• Develop major modification determinations for substantial changes to nuclear operations
• Brief federal counterparts on nuclear safety posture and hazard scope

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in engineering, mathematics, chemistry, or physics
• 5+ years of relevant experience
• U.S. citizenship required
• Ability to obtain and maintain a government issued clearance
• Experience developing and maintaining safety basis documentation per 10 CFR 830 and DOE directives
• Strong verbal and written communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Active DOE "Q" clearance
