About the role
Responsibilities
- Manage facility operations for over 150 VC rooms, 175 non-VC rooms, and various shared academic learning spaces across multiple university and clinical sites.
- Monitor the condition of spaces and furniture, initiating maintenance and repairs in coordination with UBC Building Operations and Health Authority Facility Managers.
- Oversee internal and external trades, technicians, and contractors involved in maintenance, repairs, and building services.
- Plan and manage renovations and maintenance projects, including coordinating user requirements, monitoring budgets, and managing schedules.
- Lead the annual Space & Technology Renewal Needs Assessment process to develop the learning spaces renewal project pipeline.
- Develop and maintain booking policies, agreements, and standardized workflows for academic learning spaces.
- Ensure the safety and security of facilities by working with Safety & Risk Services and managing building access permissions.
- Manage budgets, payments, and purchase orders, while reconciling building operating expenses.
Requirements
- Undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum of four years of related experience in facilities management or a similar field.
- Proven experience in project coordination and space planning.
- Strong computer proficiency and organizational skills.
- Excellent conflict resolution, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working within the University or Healthcare sectors.
- Proficiency with ARCHiBUS and CAD programs.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and work effectively under pressure to meet deadlines.
- Proven ability to build business relationships and exercise tact, diplomacy, and discretion.
