Facilities Maintenance Technician II

About the Company

Student Union, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit auxiliary that maintains three major facilities at San José State University in downtown San José, California. The organization supports the development, growth, and well-being of students and the campus community by providing diverse programs, desired services, and quality facilities.

Responsibilities

• Perform general maintenance including flooring, ceiling tiles, pressure washing, and minor plumbing repairs
• Execute carpentry tasks on floors, roofs, stairs, partitions, doors, and windows
• Support in-house refresh projects, including light-gauge metal framing and gypsum board repair
• Perform plaster and masonry work, including installing lath, drywall, and finishing surfaces
• Conduct painting tasks such as scraping, patching, masking, and applying various coatings
• Provide aquatic pool maintenance and preventive maintenance inspections
• Lead and train student employees on special projects and room turns

Requirements

• Ability to perform skilled and semi-skilled work in carpentry, painting, and plaster
• Ability to perform general building maintenance and minor plumbing
• Ability to use power tools such as sanders, saws, drills, and nailing guns
• Ability to work independently to evaluate repair requirements and prioritize tasks
