About the role
Responsibilities
- Provide hands-on support in system troubleshooting, reliability improvement, and commissioning activities
- Lead or participate in project teams responsible for mechanical and chemical utility system design, installation, and startup
- Prepare engineering deliverables including Basis of Design, design narratives, performance specs, SOPs, and HAZOP reviews
- Oversee consultant and contractor work, including scope development, bid review, and performance tracking
- Conduct site walks to coordinate utility connections and validate system integration with new equipment
- Manage third-party service providers and ensure staff are appropriately trained
- Employ root-cause analysis techniques to troubleshoot failures and prevent reoccurrence
- Utilize Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to document maintenance and repair activities
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent experience
- Minimum 3 years of experience in facilities engineering, HVAC, and utility system design
- Strong hands-on experience with system startup, commissioning, and troubleshooting
- Ability to read and understand P&IDs and Air Flow Diagrams (AFDs)
- Proficiency in technical documentation including SOPs and design reports
- Familiarity with AutoCAD, HVAC load calculators, and hydraulic analysis software
- Knowledge of Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) regulations
- Experience with Building Management Systems and CMMS
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50lbs and work in controlled GxP environments
