About the role
Responsibilities
- Lead all aspects of the department’s financial operations, including budget development, forecasting, and accounting oversight for facilities and capital projects.
- Manage the development, monitoring, and forecasting of facilities operations, capital renewal, and capital projects using variance analysis.
- Oversee key accounting processes including account set-up, journal entry preparation, invoicing, reconciliation, and accounts payable workflows.
- Prepare routine and ad hoc financial reporting, such as balance sheet reconciliations and quarterly analyses.
- Track and report quarterly on all capitalizable fixed assets generated by facilities operations and capital projects.
- Partner with central finance offices and campus stakeholders to resolve issues, improve processes, and ensure compliance with College policies.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field (or equivalent years of experience).
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in an accounting environment or with a public accounting firm.
- Advanced Excel skills, including proficiency with pivot tables, lookups, and building repeatable models.
- Strong knowledge of accrual accounting concepts and general ledger structures.
- Demonstrated understanding of end-to-end accounts payable (AP) workflows.
- Strong analytical, computer, and interpersonal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- MBA, CPA, or CMA certification.
- Experience operating within month/quarter-end close cycles and responding to audit requests.
- Proficiency in using ERP/finance systems and reporting tools.
