About the role
Responsibilities
- Lead all aspects of the department’s financial operations, including budget development, forecasting, and accounting oversight.
- Manage budget monitoring and forecasting for facilities operations, utilities, construction, and major maintenance.
- Oversee key accounting processes such as account set-up, journal entry preparation, invoicing, reconciliation, and accounts payable workflows.
- Perform variance analysis and provide financial decision support to identify risks and recommend adjustments.
- Prepare routine and ad hoc financial reporting, including balance sheet reconciliations and quarterly analyses.
- Track and report on all capitalizable fixed assets generated by facilities operations and capital projects.
- Partner with central finance offices and campus stakeholders to improve processes and ensure compliance with College policies.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, a related field, or equivalent years of experience.
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in an accounting environment or with a public accounting firm.
- Advanced Excel skills, including proficiency with pivot tables, lookups, and building repeatable models.
- Strong knowledge of accrual accounting concepts, journal entries, and general ledger structures.
- Demonstrated ability to manage complex operating budgets and analyze budget-to-actual results.
- Strong analytical, computer, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Experience with end-to-end AP workflows and ERP/finance systems.
Preferred Qualifications
- MBA, CPA, or CMA certification.
