About the role

Responsibilities

  • Lead all aspects of the department’s financial operations, including budget development, forecasting, and accounting oversight.
  • Manage the development and monitoring of budgets for facilities operations, utilities, construction, and major maintenance.
  • Oversee key accounting processes such as account set-up, journal entries, invoicing, reconciliation, and accounts payable workflows.
  • Perform variance analysis and projections to identify financial risks and recommend adjustments.
  • Prepare routine and ad hoc financial reporting, including balance sheet reconciliations and quarterly analyses.
  • Track and report on all capitalizable fixed assets generated by facilities and capital projects.
  • Partner with central finance offices and campus stakeholders to improve processes and ensure compliance with internal controls.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field (or equivalent years of experience).
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in an accounting environment or with a public accounting firm.
  • Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables, lookups, and building repeatable models.
  • Strong working knowledge of accrual accounting concepts and general ledger structures.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex operating budgets and end-to-end AP workflows.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills to present financial data to non-finance audiences.

Preferred Qualifications

  • MBA, CPA, or CMA certification.
  • Experience working within an ERP/finance system.
