Fabricator/Pipefitter

Responsibilities

• Operate safety equipment and maintain safe work habits
• Examine workpieces for defects and measure against specifications using straightedges or templates
• Perform basic steel welding
• Detect faulty equipment operation or defective materials and notify supervisors
• Mark or tag material with proper job numbers and identifying marks
• Prepare material surfaces for welding by removing scale, slag, rust, or grease
• Grind, cut, buff, or bend edges of workpieces using power grinders and hand tools
• Chip or grind off excess weld, slag, or spatter using scrapers or arc-cutting equipment
• Clean or degrease parts using wire brushes, grinders, or chemical baths
• Hammer out bulges or bends in metal workpieces
• Use fire suppression methods in industrial emergencies
• Set up and use ladders and scaffolding as required

Requirements

• Experience with basic steel welding
• Proficiency with power grinders and hand tools
• Ability to read specifications and use measuring tools
• Knowledge of industrial safety protocols
