Fabrication Shop Helper

Responsibilities

• Assist with the preparation, grinding, sanding, and cleaning of sheet metal and steel materials
• Cut material in preparation for fabrication or processing
• Chip or grind off excess weld, slag, or spatter using hand scrapers, power chippers, or portable grinders
• Support machine operators by loading and unloading items from press brakes, punch presses, and lasers
• Assist welders by holding materials in place for structural welds
• Transfer raw materials, finished products, and tools using powered equipment such as forklifts
• Maintain a clean and safe work area

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• 1+ years of experience in a related fabrication or shop capacity
• Basic math skills to meet technical specifications and measurements
• Familiarity with basic tools such as tape measures, impact drills, and sanders
• Ability to operate powered equipment, including a forklift
• Ability to stand for prolonged periods and lift up to 35 pounds
• Ability to wear required PPE, including safety glasses, gloves, and ear protection
