Fabrication Engineer

Responsibilities

• Analyze and interpret structural blueprints and architectural drawings to create detailed fabrication shop drawings and cutting lists
• Manage daily fabrication workshop operations, ensuring welding, machining, and assembly sequences are executed safely and efficiently
• Enforce strict compliance with structural standards and welding codes through QA/QC and non-destructive testing (NDT) oversight
• Estimate material requirements, generate accurate Bills of Materials (BOMs), and manage procurement of raw steel and hardware
• Implement lean manufacturing principles to reduce material waste and improve shop throughput
• Oversee the maintenance and calibration of fabrication machinery, including CNC cutters and laser welders

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Structural, or Metallurgical Engineering
• 3 to 6 years of hands-on experience in structural steel fabrication or heavy manufacturing
• Deep knowledge of welding processes including MIG, TIG, and SMAW
• Proficiency in CAD software such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or Tekla Structures
• Strong understanding of metallurgy and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
• Proven ability to lead teams of fabricators and technicians in high-pressure environments

Preferred Qualifications

• Certifications in Welding Inspection (e.g., AWS CWI or CSWIP)
• Experience with NDT methods
