Fab Lab Lead Technician

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily Digital Fabrication Lab operations, including design-for-fabrication support, job scheduling, and workflow monitoring
• Supervise technicians and student interns, ensuring adherence to lab procedures and high service standards
• Uphold and improve OHS practices, contributing to safety procedures, incident management, and student supervision
• Monitor and support machine maintenance, troubleshooting faults, and coordinating maintenance plans
• Deliver and refine training for staff and users while providing expert consultations on digital fabrication challenges

Requirements

• Demonstrated experience with CNC routers, laser cutters, 3D printers, or other digital prototyping equipment
• Proficiency in using computer-aided design (CAD) software to prepare and interpret files for fabrication
• Relevant qualification and experience in digital and analogue fabrication
• Proven experience providing effective supervision to junior staff or students
• Strong customer service and communication skills for supporting diverse student and staff cohorts
• Sound understanding of workshop safety, OHS procedures, and incident management
