F-18 General Mechanic

Responsibilities

• Perform maintenance, inspection, and repair of F-18 aircraft systems and components
• Assemble, disassemble, and modify aerospace vehicle components to correct failures or implement upgrades
• Troubleshoot complex pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical systems to isolate and repair faults
• Conduct end-of-runway, postflight, preflight, thru-flight, and phase inspections
• Perform coordinated combat turns and hot pit refuels
• Use technical data and publications to diagnose and address maintenance problems
• Document all procedures, repairs, and test results to ensure regulatory compliance
• Inspect components for clearances, tolerances, and proper installation to ensure flight worthiness
• Maintain aircraft equipment and review maintenance forms and automated data systems

Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in military fighter aircraft maintenance
• Minimum of 1 year of experience reading and interpreting technical publications or maintenance manuals
• Active U.S. Secret Security Clearance (U.S. Citizenship Required)
• Ability to lift up to 35 pounds

Preferred Qualifications

• F-18 (AM or AD) specific qualifications
• Prior experience with Navy 4790.2 requirements
• Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions, including high temperatures and humidity
