Exterminator

Responsibilities

• Inspect premises and investigate complaints of infestation
• Determine appropriate extermination methods
• Apply rodenticide and bait according to protocol and labels
• Post signs and alerts in public areas where pesticides are applied
• Maintain extermination schedules and keep digital records
• Instruct the public on safety precautions regarding pesticides
• Inspect demolition worksites for rodent control compliance
• Operate city vehicles safely and maintain city-issued equipment

Requirements

• Valid Certified Commercial Pesticide Applicator certificate (7A) from NYS DEC
• Valid New York State Motor Vehicle Driver License
• Ability to work well in teams
• Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working with computers
• Two years of practical experience in pest extermination (for Assignment Level II)
• Three years of experience including one year in a supervisory capacity (for Assignment Level III)
