Exterior Designer

Responsibilities

• Create fresh, innovative exterior designs for multiple General Motors branded vehicles and products using electronic design tools.
• Follow the design process from initial sketch to final released clay model.
• Produce perspective sketches and renderings, in scale and full size, to communicate new design ideas.
• Develop two- and three-dimensional mock-ups of proposed design solutions.
• Collaborate with studio engineers, modelers, and other designers to develop ideas in both 2D and 3D.
• Present new concepts and designs effectively through oral and visual communication.
• Maintain frequent contact with cross-functional partners outside the immediate work group.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Transportation Design, Industrial Design, or a related field.
• 2+ years of experience in a similar role.
• Proficiency with design-related systems including ALIAS, VRED, and Photoshop.
• Strong drawing, visualization, and understanding of form and proportion.
• Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to submit a portfolio demonstrating creative proficiency (required for consideration).
