Extended Day Teacher

Responsibilities

• Organize and develop the Extended Day program of activities for Preschool and Kindergarten students
• Design a program aligned with progressive pedagogical approaches, emphasizing student voice and agency
• Cultivate an inclusive, equitable environment that fosters a sense of belonging
• Design and maintain an engaging classroom space with age-appropriate, open-ended materials
• Provide behavior support through a progressive, restorative framework
• Ensure safe program operation and compliance with State of Oregon Child Care Rules
• Assist Beginning School specialist teacher with preschool class twice a week
• Design activities for Day Camps in collaboration with the teaching assistant and Assistant Director

Requirements

• BA or BS from an accredited college or university, preferably in education, early childhood, child development, or recreation
• At least one year of experience leading a preschool or kindergarten children’s program
• Knowledge of the State of Oregon’s Child Care Rules
• Strong organizational and communication skills
• Ability to lift 30-50 pounds and perform frequent bending, squatting, and kneeling
