Experienced Third Mate

Responsibilities

• Perform navigation and collision avoidance duties as Officer on Watch
• Act as Person in Charge (PIC) of cargo watch
• Direct unlicensed deck personnel during watch standing, mooring, and cargo activities
• Perform deck maintenance work as directed by the Chief Mate
• Manage ordering and inventory of safety gear
• Ensure compliance with STCW, ISM, and ISPS conventions and Chevron operational procedures
• Participate in company safety programs, including Behavior Based Safety and Job Safety Analysis

Requirements

• Merchant Mariners Credential
• USCG Third Mate Unlimited
• Advanced Firefighting Certificate
• Basic Safety Training
• VPDSD Endorsement or VSO
• GMDSS certificate
• Unlimited Radar endorsement / ARPA
• PIC-DL Endorsement (Advanced Oil and Chemical Tanker Cargo Operation)
• Valid Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC)
• Valid USCG Medical Certificate and Passport

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous sea time on product carriers
