Experience Prototyper/Lab Manager

Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day lab operations, including equipment setup, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
• Moderate human-subject vision science studies, ensuring participant safety and data integrity.
• Coordinate study logistics such as participant scheduling, consent forms, and documentation.
• Build rapid prototypes to support experimental design and validation using Lens Studio, Unity, or similar AR/VR platforms.
• Implement experimental stimuli, UI flows, and interactive behaviors for research studies.
• Collaborate with researchers, engineers, and designers to translate vision science concepts into functional prototypes.
• Support data collection workflows and assist in debugging experimental flows.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in vision science, psychology, computer science, or a related field (MA/PhD preferred).
• Experience running experimental studies and moderating human-subject research.
• Proficiency in programming for VR/AR using tools like Lens Studio or Unity.
• Experience with experiment development packages such as Psychtoolbox or PsychoPy.
• Experience with image processing and data analysis using Matlab or Python.
• Ability to work onsite in Boulder, CO or Los Angeles/Santa Monica, CA.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with object-oriented programming.
• Experience with statistical software such as JMP or R.
• Background in human-computer interaction or psychophysics.
