Expanded Functions Dental Assistant

Responsibilities

• Prepare patients and sterilize or disinfect instruments
• Set up instrument trays and prepare materials
• Assist dentist during dental procedures and manage emergencies
• Record treatment information and patient medical/dental histories
• Expose dental diagnostic x-rays
• Provide postoperative instructions and oral hygiene education
• Order and monitor dental supplies and equipment inventory
• Fabricate temporary restorations and custom impressions
• Pour, trim, and polish study casts
• Clean and polish removable appliances
• Schedule appointments, prepare bills, and process payments

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED
• Completion of Dental Assistant coursework or equivalent experience
• Valid certification in Expanded Functions Dental Assisting
• Valid Indiana Dental Radiography license
• CPR and First-Aid certification
• Compliance with OSHA, HIPAA, and Infection Control standards
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
