About the role
Responsibilities
- Lead the editorial direction and overall execution of the "Good Day Seattle" morning news block.
- Supervise a team of Producers, Associate Producers, and Writers to produce compelling, visually appealing news programs.
- Ensure all news content is balanced, accurate, and adheres to high journalistic integrity and station standards.
- Lead editorial calls, manage rundowns, approve scripts, and contribute to newsroom planning.
- Collaborate with primary hosts, reporters, and journalists to plan content and production.
- Recruit, train, and develop news staff while managing and evaluating ongoing employee performance.
- Set weekly production schedules, including editing time and planning shoots with photojournalists.
Requirements
- Minimum of three (3) years of experience in a TV newsroom as a major market producer or smaller market news manager.
- Strong leadership, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills.
- In-depth knowledge of local newscast development, including investigative reporting and government agencies.
- Strong writing, copy-editing, and verbal communication abilities.
- Proficiency with MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including early mornings, weekends, holidays, and emergency scenarios.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Communications, Radio/TV, or a related discipline.
- Strong digital footprint and understanding of how to leverage content in the digital space to enhance broadcast products.
