About the role
Responsibilities
- Lead and enhance the comprehensive planned giving program for the Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons
- Manage a personal portfolio of major and planned gift prospects, including qualifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding donors
- Identify and engage donors through testamentary bequests, charitable trusts, life income arrangements, and complex gifts
- Provide strategic leadership and supervision for planned giving staff and communications
- Serve as a key liaison to the Columbia University Office of Alumni and Development Planned Giving
- Collaborate with the major gifts team to develop integrated gift strategies
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree required (or equivalent in education and experience)
- 7 years of related experience in development or fundraising
- Proven experience with major gift solicitations and working in a campaign environment
- Strong written and oral communication skills for preparing proposals and making persuasive presentations
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Ability to maintain high levels of confidentiality and work effectively with university faculty and alumni
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree
- Specific experience working within a large-scale fundraising campaign
