About the role
Responsibilities
- Provide strategic direction and leadership for the Occupational Health and Safety Division
- Lead a team of managers and directors to promote worker safety and accident prevention across Nova Scotia
- Oversee regulatory and non-regulatory programs, including inspection, compliance, and enforcement
- Develop and maintain effective relationships with safety partners and represent the division on local, regional, and national committees
- Manage human and financial resources while promoting a diverse and healthy workplace culture
Requirements
- Several years of leadership and management experience, including a minimum of three years at the senior level
- University degree or significant related experience in occupational health, workplace safety, or a regulatory environment
- Progressive experience in policy and program development and operational management
- Proven ability to build and manage stakeholder relationships at an executive level
- Strong negotiation, decision-making, and communication skills
- Ability to lead complex organizations and execute strategic change
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience managing regionally dispersed teams
- Experience working within municipal, provincial, or federal government
- Experience representing a jurisdiction's interests on national or multi-jurisdictional committees
