Executive Director of the Energy Institute

Responsibilities

• Lead the newly formed Energy Institute to advance research, policy, and workforce development in the energy transition sector.
• Align research, education, outreach, and technology areas with a focus on Louisiana's energy issues.
• Oversee the Louisiana Geological Survey to ensure alignment with the Institute's strategic objectives.
• Design and execute a collaborative sponsored research program to catalyze innovation and societal impact.
• Serve as the primary spokesperson and liaison between LSU and public agencies, government officials, and industry stakeholders.
• Identify and secure competitive funding from government and industry sources to ensure long-term financial stability.
• Manage annual budgets and develop reporting on program investments and returns.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree and 10 years of professional experience.
• Distinguished record of leadership in the advancement of energy resources.
• Exceptional knowledge across multiple energy sectors.
• Demonstrated comprehension of domestic and international energy policy and regulation.
• Proven success in attracting funding to support research and technology commercialization.
• Strong professional network and ability to establish domestic and international alliances.

Preferred Qualifications

• Ph.D. in an energy-related field.
• Professional Engineer (PE) or Professional Geoscientist (PG) licensing.
• 10 or more years of advanced professional experience.
