About the role

Responsibilities

  • Manage all physical plant operations, including building maintenance, custodial services, grounds, utilities, transportation, and Central Stores.
  • Develop and implement multi-year comprehensive maintenance plans for both corrective and preventive upkeep of HVAC, mechanical, plumbing, electrical, and structural systems.
  • Oversee campus construction projects, working closely with architects, engineers, contractors, and construction managers.
  • Manage departmental budgeting, financial resource allocation, and all accounting aspects related to the physical plant and campus construction.
  • Coordinate space allocation in collaboration with the Chief of Administration, deans, and senior administration.
  • Assist in property acquisitions, including price negotiations and purchase approvals.
  • Supervise personnel, including reviewing leave requests, grievances, and conducting timely performance evaluations.
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards and participate in the selection of major campus equipment and professional service providers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Public Administration, Engineering, Architecture, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 7 years of professional experience.
  • Proven experience in university funding, finance, and accounting.
  • Strong knowledge of building codes and legal/regulatory codes regarding facilities and construction.
  • Demonstrated experience in industrial-level maintenance and construction.
  • Excellent leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills to manage a diverse workforce and interact with students, staff, and the community.
