Executive Director, Local Food Distributor

Responsibilities

• Lead the Mid-Atlantic Chapter’s team, including operations, sales, and customer service, with a focus on collaboration and growth.
• Ensure efficient operation of the Philadelphia warehouse and regional logistics network, maintaining compliance with food safety and DOT standards.
• Develop and execute regional sales strategies to achieve revenue goals and expand institutional partnerships with schools, hospitals, and universities.
• Manage the Chapter’s P&L, including preparing annual budgets, forecasting revenue, and ensuring fiscal discipline.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with regional producers, food hubs, and community partners to strengthen supply chains.
• Partner with national leadership to align goals, systems, and processes across the organization.
• Serve as a regional ambassador and thought leader for values-based procurement and equitable food systems.

Requirements

• 7–10 years of progressive leadership experience in operations, supply chain, food distribution, or mission-driven enterprise.
• Proven track record of managing P&L, budgets, and delivering measurable performance outcomes.
• Experience leading diverse frontline teams in operational or warehouse environments.
• Strong relationship management skills with the ability to engage farmers, institutional buyers, and policymakers.
• Deep commitment to food systems change, racial equity, and community wealth-building.
• Ability to be based in Philadelphia, PA, with approximately 20–30% regional travel.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in a social enterprise or nonprofit business model.
• Familiarity with Salesforce, inventory management systems, and warehouse management software.
• Background in logistics, food safety, or large-scale distribution.
