Executive Director

Responsibilities

• Provide visionary leadership for Forward Tennessee and Tennessee Progress to strengthen the communications power and influence of progressive coalition partners.
• Align communications efforts across diverse partners to shape public opinion, elections, and legislative sessions.
• Develop and lead a high-performing team through coaching, feedback, and clear goal setting.
• Serve as the chief fundraiser and mission champion, working with the Board to secure and diversify revenue streams.
• Oversee organizational management, including budgeting, financial compliance, and strategic planning.
• Identify communications challenges within the ecosystem and develop scalable solutions and technical assistance.

Requirements

• Proven experience leading coalition work and driving action across diverse stakeholders, often without formal authority.
• Demonstrated experience in team management and developing high-performing staff.
• Expertise in political communications, including a deep understanding of organizing, elections, and legislative advocacy.
• Strong fundraising track record with experience communicating compellingly to donors and funders.
• Exceptional storytelling and communication skills, with the ability to translate complex ideas into actionable narratives.
• Demonstrated commitment to equity and experience working with communities of color and diverse stakeholders.
• Must be a resident of Tennessee.

• Salary: $120,000–$125,000, depending on experience.
